Aims of the Association

To advance the education of the public and members with regard to the breeding and welfare of Coloured Down sheep.

  • To promote for the benefit of the public and members the sustainability of the natural environment and conservation by encouraging biodiversity through Coloured Down sheep breeding programmes and the maintenance of associated flock records and pedigree registers.
  • To promote research into the breeding and welfare of Coloured Down sheep and to use the results of that research to encourage and support best practice and further the coloured Down breed for the benefit of the public and members.
  • To promote excellence in Coloured Down sheep to advance education and/or research through training courses, farm open days. Through annual shows and sales which are open to the public and in pursuit of that aim to award prizes, awards and/or bursaries so as to encourage and promote the breed to the public.
  • To encourage the use of the Welsh language to support people in rural locations, particularly those that can only communicate through the medium of Welsh.
